Starting today, I will try to work on making the site a little bit more accessible by adding visual descriptions to the photo subpages. You can expect a useful alt-text written out beneath the photo and a very short one like "small pig", "big pig", "cute pig" on the species page as to not spam people using the internet on readers or software blocking photos. I know that alt-text is the only way to "view" photos for millions of people. I also know, AI crawlers will probably misuse those descriptions and I hope I don't get in trouble in terms of server traffic once they notice I am a good source. Well anyway, I hope doing this will make this wiki more accessible to some people. It will take a long time to implement it over the whole wiki and I won't be doing that in one big chunk of time, just as I don't work on the wiki daily and some pages don't even have a description yet.
If you value my work, you can leave a tip now, I've added a Paypal to the FAQ. (This is not related to the accessibility decision, that's not extra work, I wanna do that.) But please, if you do - make it very small amounts. This is a hobby, not an income. Five bucks pay the server bills, ten bucks pay the server bills for two months. So far this wiki is very small, it doesn't take up much space and traffic.
If you got redirected to the wiki by my post about how I'm looking for a job in the field - please offer me a job!

Have you ever wondered if a page really only comes with the one or two photos added or if it's worth coming back later to see if there are more pictures? If so, the new "up-to-date" comment is for you. Look just above the "About" section of a page. If it says, this page is up-to-date, there won't be any updates to that page anytime soon. The "stamp" will be added to all pages this applies to over time.

This little wiki, born in October, has by now grown to showcase 90 species and over 350 photos. If you like it, show it to others, spread the word. Remember: Without any trackers and statistics in place, because I value your privacy and the way the internet used to be, I am not able to see if anyone ever visits the site at all. I count on you to make it a tiny bit famous amongst everyone who might enjoy a wiki like this! Thank you!

Sam's Bugs hit 100 species today! That's exciting! It is also a bit of a lie because some of the pages don't have text and not nearly all of the photos they could have, yet. However, 100 species are 100 species!

New year, new bugs! I am still working my way backwards through observations to add all the awesome bugs I saw during the last few years to this little wiki. Check back whenever you want to see more of them!

One new element I started adding to pages is a slideshow of the whole gallery for that species. If you spot a page that has one - that's all the pictures I have on that species right now. Enjoy the bigger slideshow instead of having to click on each observation.
